Lawrence Yun, chief economist of the National Association of Realtors, told Realtors at a national conference this month that he expects more housing inventory by the end of the year. “We’re going to get more supply, more inventory,” he said. “The good news is home construction is ramping up. This event is open to all Northern Wasatch Association Realtors and will allow you to meet some of our Affiliates and discover how they are able to assist you with your clients and build your Real Estate business. The Bingo Tour is similar to the Home Tours however, instead of visiting homes, you will be meeting with the Affiliates of the NWAOR Board at the designated locations. With inventory cut by two-thirds compared to last year, buyers are facing tough competition. In Weber County, for example, there were only 298 homes listed at the end of January. That’s down 64% from last year. In Davis and Morgan counties, inventories were cut 65% and 81% respectively. Competition was fiercest in Box Elder County where the number of for-sale homes fell 76%. This equates to less than half a month of supply and means Box Elder has the strongest seller’s market in the state.
